Central College

23 Central students received grants to pursue summer research with faculty on campus. They're studying bats, bees, polymers, criminal sentencing and more.

During summer, students pursue classes, internships and adventures from Mexico to London to Wales.

The following students were named to the spring 2015 Central College dean's list:

Central College seniors graduated May 16 with degrees in 36 majors.

After months exploring topics like sports analytics, Parkinson's Disease, prairie grasses and consumer behavior, 175 Central students presented their results during Central's Undergraduate Research Symposium May 5-6.

Three communication studies seniors have received Recognition of Achievement in Speech Communication from the Iowa Communication Association.

Ashton Mayer '15 of Essex was named a finalist in the First Annual Ahlers & Cooney Student Art Competition for her piece "Makings of Flight." Mayer received an award and cash prize of $250. In addition, Ahlers & Cooney made a matching donation to Central College.

Four Central students will lead discussion of doctor-patient metaphors at the Examined Life conference April 17 with associate professor of English Joshua Dole?al.

38 psychology students were accepted to present their scholarly research at the annual Midwestern Psychological Association (MPA) conference in Chicago.

Senior Molly Ward, a member of the Central College Mock Trial Team, won the Outstanding Attorney Award at the Loras National Invitational Jan. 30-31.

The following students were named to the fall 2014 Central College dean's list:

Area students will present during Undergraduate Scholarship Celebration Day, held Dec. 11 at Central College. The event will provide students with the opportunity to showcase their research and projects in a variety of disciplines.

Eighty-three Central College students will study abroad this spring.

Jacob Logan '18, a member of the Central College Mock Trial Team, won the Outstanding Attorney Award at the Creighton University BlueJay Open on Nov. 22.

Environmental studies major Rachel Frana '15 is using GIS mapping technology to help food pantries identify underserved areas of Des Moines.
