Central College

Local students presented their chemistry research on Friday, May 3 on Central College's campus. The students were taking the Research Investigations in Chemistry course at Central.

Local students and May 2013 graduates of Central College are athletic training majors and recently passed the Board of Certification examination to become certified athletic trainers.

Local students presented their presented the results of semester-long research projects on Tuesday, April 30 during the 39th annual Psychology Research Symposium on campus.

Local students presented their research proposals Monday, April 29 on campus. The students were taking the Psychological Investigations class taught by Dr. Keith Jones.

Local students presented senior honors theses at Central College in Pella, Iowa, on April 25. A senior thesis is a yearlong, specialized, independent study course carried out within the student's major discipline. The students were awarded an honors designation on their final transcript.

Local students participated in the Education Department Senior Showcase at Central College in Pella, Iowa, on April 29. Students presented their portfolios, student teaching experience and progress monitoring projects. The event was meant to honor and celebrate Central's student teachers. The Central College Mock Trial Team qualified for the Opening Round Championships of the National Mock Trial Tournament. The team competed Feb. 16-17 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, finishing with a record of 6-2 and defeating Grinnell College, the University of Iowa and Northwestern University (Ill.) This is the second year the team has qualified for the tournament. The following local students are members of the team:

The following students, all education majors in their senior years at Central College, participated in the Senior Showcase for the education department Wednesday, December 5 from 5:30-8 p.m. During the half-hour presentations, they presented portfolios, student teaching experience and progress monitoring projects. The showcase was a celebration of Central's student teachers.

The Central College mock trial team competed at the Drake Bulldog Invitational on Oct. 26. The following students helped the team to a third place finish in a field of nineteen teams with a 6-2 record. They defeated teams from Iowa State, Washburn (Kan.) and Drake Universities.

Alpha Zeta Mu is the highest academic honor available. Students that graduate with these honors must be full time students, completed at least three semesters at Central and achieved a minimum grade point average between 3.8 and 4.0 on a 4.0 scale. The following local students graduated from Central College Saturday, May 12. The ceremony was held at H.S. Kuyper Fieldhouse in Pella, Iowa. There were 323 graduates from 16 states and four foreign countries.
