More than 320 students earned a spot on the spring 2018 dean's list for Central College. The honor is awarded to full-time students who achieve a 3.5 grade point average or higher on a 4.0 scale while taking 12 or more graded credit hours for the semester.

Central College has recently been certified as an affiliate of the Bee Campus USA program, designed to marshal the strengths of educational campuses for the benefit of pollinators. Central is the only college in Iowa to earn the designation.

Central College is proud to announce this year's recipients of full-tuition Kuyper Scholarships and $30,000 Rolscreen Scholarships, the most prestigious awards granted at the college.

Five Central College seniors will hold their final art exhibitions beginning April 24 at the Mills Gallery in the Lubbers Center for Visual Arts. The Senior Thesis Exhibit events are free and open to the public. Mills Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. A reception for the show will be held from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, April 29.

Eleven Central College students were inducted into Central's Iowa Epsilon chapter of Kappa Mu Epsilon, a nationally-recognized mathematics honor society. The society, founded in 1931, recognizes undergraduate students of mathematics and other closely-related fields who have maintained standards of scholarship, have professional merit and have attained academic distinction.

Central College students attended The Examined Life Conference Oct. 13, 2017, in Iowa City. The conference, which aims to unite the disciplines of writing and medicine, was hosted by the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine. The students presented a panel titled, "Post-Traumatic Stress, Spiritual Distress, and Healing for Female Veterans: A Discussion of Sand Queen."

Seven Central College students embarked on the five-week trip to Costa Rica with faculty members Sara Shuger Fox and Oscar Reynaga this summer, pursuing research in environmental law, nutrition and health, biodiversity, family cultures and disaster response.

Central College senior Michaela Van Dusseldorp received a research grant to expand her original research with assistant professor of psychology Ashley Scolaro.

Sara Rodriguez, a communication studies major from Lenexa, Kansas, is conducting in-depth interviews with farmers across central Iowa as part of her research with professor Jim Zaffiro.
