Central Students to Perform in Christmas Candlelight
63 Central College students are performing in the 46th annual Christmas Candlelight Concert, which will premire at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11. The event is pre-recorded and available for free at central.edu/candlelight. The A Cappella Choir, Chambers Singers and Handbell Choir will come together for one of the college's most cherished traditions. This year's theme is "Peace on Earth."

23 Central College students will perform at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, as part of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble's "Winter Spectacular." The event will be livestreamed and recorded and can be viewed at central.edu/fine-arts. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform "Sleigh Ride" by Leroy Anderson, "English Folk Song Suite" by Ralph Vaughan Williams, "A Movement for Rosa" and "Christmas at the Movies" with selections of popular Christmas music by John Williams.

Central Students to Perform in 'Caribbean Christmas'
15 Central College students will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, in "Caribbean Christmas" as part of the Flying Pans Steel Band. The event will be livestreamed and recorded and can be viewed at central.edu/fine-arts. The Flying Pans Steel Band Savor will perform Christmas classics with a tropical twist, including "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree," "Jingle Bells," "Silent Night" and Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Wizards in Winter." Proceeds will benefit the Central Cares Fund.

Central Students to Perform in 'An Evening of Percussion Music'
21 Central College students will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, in "An Evening of Percussion Music" via livestream. The event also will be recorded and can be viewed at central.edu/fine-arts. The Percussion Ensemble and Dutch Boom Drumline join to perform drum cadences, marimba quartets, solo marimba music and an original composition featuring cymbals, gongs and tam-tams.

11 Central College students will participate in the production of John John Patrick Shanley's "Doubt, A Parable," which won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for drama and the 2005 Tony Award for best play. It runs Oct. 7-11 in Kruidenier Theatre on Central's campus.

Central College announced its Homecoming court and royalty winners during a ceremony Friday, Sept. 25. Blaine Hawkins, Daria Parchert, Paige Roehlk and Katie Banowetz were selected to the Homecoming court. Joseph Pepe and Kennedy Morris were crowned Homecoming royalty.

Central Freshmen Earn College's Top Scholarships
Central College is proud to announce this year's recipients of full-tuition Kuyper Scholarships and Rolscreen Foundation Scholarships, the most prestigious awards granted at the college. Peter H. Kuyper founded Rolscreen Company, known today as Pella Corporation. Students selected participated in Central's Scholar Days. All have at least a 3.78 GPA and 27 ACT score.

Central Student Lindsey Blommers Receives $5,000 Scholarship
Lindsey Blommers, a junior at Central College, received a $5,000 scholarship from Community State Bank. She was presented the award In August on campus at the women's leadership conference. The one-time scholarship was created to support a female student interested in finance, business management or accounting.

Central Students Participate in Women's Leadership Conference
10 Central College students are partcipating in a women's leadership conference on campus this week. It is the second year for the conference, designed to provide opportunities for Central seniors nominated by faculty and staff members. The event allows them to meet with experts in their fields whose character sets an example for women scholars and future leaders.

Central Student Accepted into SHPEP Program
Central College student Deryck Cleppe, Class of 2022 and a biochemistry major from Chelsea, Iowa, was accepted into the Summer Health Professions Education Program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. SHPEP is a free summer program at academic institutions across the country with the "goal to strengthen the academic proficiency and career development of students underrepresented in the health professions and prepare them for a successful application and matriculation to health professions schools."

Central Students' Work Featured in Writing Anthology
22 Central College students had their work published in the college's annual Writing Anthology, a collection of exceptional student work from across the liberal arts curriculum.
