Would You Be My Neighbor: Christensen to Lecture on Cosmopolitanism

by Brandon Rosas

Pella, IA (03/28/2019) — Cosmopolitanism is something leading philosophers Kwame Anthony Appiah and Martha C. Nussbaum are talking about. Anna Christensen, lecturer in philosophy at Central College, now will talk about it, too.

Christensen's lecture titled "Would You Be My Neighbor: Ancient Cosmopolitanism as an Aid to Community" is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, in the Boat/Moore rooms of the Maytag Student Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Cosmopolitanism declares all human beings, regardless of political affiliation, race and creed are (or can and should be) citizens of a single community. Christensen will examine the subject and discuss how these teachings help solve current political and social concerns.

This is the last of four events in Central's Faculty Lecture Series with the theme of "Living in Community." For more information, visit central.edu/academic-theme.
