Steffen sets another indoor women's school record
Establishes new program standered in indoor 800
Boston, Mass (02/17/2025) — For the second time already during this Central College indoor track and field season, junior Peyton Steffen (junior, Marion) established a new program standard with a strong effort in the 800-meter run Saturday at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
Steffen clocked in at 2 minutes, 13. 28 seconds to take control of the indoor 800-meter run mark. She finished 85th in a field of over 200 athletes, including professionals. Steffen also finished 136th in the mile in 4:57.35. The junior already broke the 1,000 meters record this season.
"It's hard to run at that level for one race much less doing a double on the same day," associate head coach Joe Dunham said. "She's in a very good place and I can't wait to see what she does over the next few weeks."
Addison Parrott (senior, Danville) improved her stock in the 3,000-meter run with a new personal-best mark of 9 minutes, 41.17 seconds to finish in 136th place.
"She got out fast and put herself in a really good position for the first 2000 meters," Dunham said. "The last 1000 was a battle for her and she battled hard. She was able to hold on and run an 11 second PR."
Central will compete at the Liz Wuertz Invitational hosted by Wartburg College next Saturday in Waverly.
