Central's Stout turns in 79 for women's golf squad

Stout shoots 79 for Dutch in Washington-Stl Louis tourney

by Larry Happel

Eureka, MO. (03/24/2025) — Running up against a powerful field, the Central College women's golf team opened in 15th place at the Washington University (Mo.) Spring Invitational Saturday.

No. 25 Grinnell College, one of three nationally ranked squads in the 15-team tourney, grabbed the early lead with 293 on the par-71 Crescent Farms Golf Course. Wisconsin-Stout follows at 298 with No. 17 Illinois Wesleyan University at 300 and No. 3 Washington-St. Louis, the host school, at 303.

Central carded 335 while American Rivers foe the University of Dubuque is sixth at 312 and Wartburg College is 13th at 331.

Parker Stout (senior, Lowden, North Cedar HS) shot 79 for the Dutch while Allie Pfantz (freshman, State Cener, West Marshall HS) had 80, Amber Timmer (freshman, San Diego, Calif., Mount Carmel HS) shot 87, Lydia Grond (senior, Hull, Boyden-Hull HS) had 89 and Mickey Martens (sophomore, Villa Park, Ill., Willowbrook ) finished with 102.

It's the first outing of the spring for Central and a bumpy debut for new coach Mackenzie Biggs.

"It was a day of getting a lot of the rust off and getting back in tournament mode," Biggs said.

She was encouraged by the play of Stout, who was also celebrating a birthday.

"Parker had a great day," Biggs said. "She felt pretty good about how she played. She said she had lots of one-putts, which helps."

And the tourney is an opportunity to gain experience against elite competition.

"That's why we chose to play in it," Biggs said. "We're grateful to be in the field."

The 36-hole tourney concludes Sunday.
