Central RED Society to Host Kickoff Celebration

by Central College

Pella, IA (08/02/2019) — Central College's Central RED Society will celebrate the start of its year with a 2019-20 Kickoff Celebration at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27. The event will take place in the Dave and Ardie Sutphen Room of the Graham Annex and is open to the public.

The initial meeting of the group offers a chance to socialize, learn about fall classes/events and what the Central RED Society offers. Cost is $15 for dinner. A cash bar also is available.

Central RED (Ready to Engage and Discover) is a volunteer-driven, lifelong learning and social organization with an abiding partnership with Central College alumni and friends who wish to share knowledge, talents and experiences. Central RED offers noncredit educational opportunities to enrich the intellectual, cultural, social and spiritual lives of its members.

Members pay $20 annually to join Central RED, which offers five to eight courses, workshops and/or events each semester. Some are free, while others have an associated fee. You must be a member to attend. However, no affiliation with Central College is required to join Central RED.

"I encourage people to come out and learn what Central RED can offer," says Mary Benedict, assistant director of alumni relations and Central RED coordinator. "RED is short for 'Ready to Engage and Discover,' and that is truly what this group is all about. Programs allow members to share their knowledge, talents and experiences."
