Central RED Lunch 'n' Learn Focuses on Central Teacher Academy
Pella, IA (10/07/2019) — Central College's Central RED Society will hold a Lunch 'n' Learn session focusing on the Central Teacher Academy on Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the Dave and Ardie Sutphen Common Room in Graham Annex. Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. with the program to follow at noon. Cost of lunch is $10.
Mindi Kacmarynski, a 1993 graduate of Central, will talk about CTA, a collaborative program for preparing prospective teachers that uses the resources of the college, Pella Community Schools and Pella Christian schools. As freshmen, Central education students can apply and interview to participate in CTA. Those selected are paired with a mentor teacher and spend an additional 250 hours in their classroom.
Kacmarynski will be joined by a panel of Central CTA students. She was the first CTA coordinator, serving until 2006 and returning to the position in 2014.
Central RED (Ready to Engage and Discover) is a volunteer-driven, lifelong learning and social organization with an abiding partnership with Central College alumni and friends who wish to share knowledge, talents and experiences. Members pay $20 annually to join Central RED.
