Changes Zoom link.

Pella, IA (08/26/2020) — Central College's Central RED Society will present "Iowa Water Quality: Past, Present and Future" with Pete Eyheralde during a virtual event at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2. The event is free and can be accessed via Zoom here: wmpenn.zoom.us/j/91731390352.

Eyheralde is an associate professor of biology at William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa, where he teaches biology and ecology. He earned his doctorate in ecology and evolutionary biology from Iowa State University.

Eyheralde's dissertation focused on the role of bison as seed dispersers in tallgrass prairie. His current research combines studies of basic ecological questions with applied research, focusing on the conservation of biological diversity. He is interested in vertebrate population dynamics, responses to landscape change and the conservation and management of wildlife.

He will address a history of landscape change in Iowa and its impacts on freshwater lakes, rivers and streams. He'll look at the effects of degraded water quality on aquatic wildlife and humans. Also, Eyheralde will explore possible solutions to Iowa's water quality problem, discuss potential roadblocks and a vision for the future of Iowa waterways.
