Central men's soccer team has six players receive CSC Academic All-District nod

The team finished its season 8-9-2

Six Central College men's soccer players were selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District list.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must play in 90% of a team's contests at the varsity level or start in 66% of the games while achieving a 3.50 or better cumulative grade point average (4.00 scale). Each institution can nominate a limited number of players per gender.

The players include Lucas Bartachek (senior, defender, Waukee), Jack Hillis (sophomore, midfielder, Clive, Waukee HS), Coleman Manuel (senior, forward, Erie, Colo.), Alejo Marcon (junior, defender, Pella, Pella Christian HS), Lelong Miyeng (sophomore, defender, Bondurant, Des Moines North HS), and Ronan Murphy (senior, goalkeeper, Des Moines, Roosevelt HS).

Bartachek is an accounting and business management double major who maintained a 3.55 GPA. He started 12 of the teams' 19 games. He played 841 minutes and recorded six shots.

Hillis is an undecided major and maintained a 3.61 GPA. On the field he started 17 games and recorded one goal and one assist.

Manuel is a biology major, maintains a 3.65 GPA. On the pitch he started 14 games and recorded three goals and added three assists.

Marcon is a business management major, maintained a 3.55 GPA. On the pitch he led the team with 1516 minutes played and scored three goals while dishing out three assists.

Miyeng is an undeclared major, maintaining a 3.58 GPA. He scored one goal on five shots this season, playing 879 minutes.

Murphy is a computer science major maintaining a 3.66 GPA. Between the pipes this season he made 56 saves and carried 1.17 goals against average including three shutouts.

The squad finished its season with a 8-9-2 (3-4-1 American Rivers) record.
