Central extends cross country academic honor streaks
Four individuals recieve all-academic honors
Pella, IA (01/30/2025) — The Central College men's and women's cross country teams extended their streaks in receiving USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors, along with four individuals.
Individually on the women's team Sara DeHaan (senior, Cedar Falls) was selected for the first time, Addison Parrott (senior, Danville) was tabbed for the third time, and Peyton Steffen (junior, Marion) earned the honor for the first time.
The lone individual on the men's squad was Derek Webster (senior, Norwalk) who was selected for the third time in his career.
The women's team posted a lofty 3.54 combined grade point average to earn all-academic honors for the 15th straight year and 18th time overall. The men's team combined for a 3.26 grade point average and was selected for the seventh consecutive year.
Teams are recognized by compiling a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or greater and competing in at least five different varsity competitions with at least five runners representing their school at each meet.
Individual student-athletes must compile a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or greater on a 4.0 scale and finish among the top 25 percent of finishers at their respective regional championships.
DeHaan has a 3.91 (elementary education), Parrott is at 3.88 (psychology/sociology) and Steffen carries a 3.45 (biochemistry). Parrott finished third in the Midwest Regional in Rock Island, Illinois, and Steffen finished fourth, to advance to the women's national meet. DeHaan finished 38th in the region.
Webster has a 3.89 (chemistry) while he advanced to the national meet, and he finished 28th at the regional meet.
Parrott finished in 49th place at the national meet, and Parrott finished 101st. Webster finished 202nd in the men's championship race.
