Central College Waives ACT/SAT Testing Requirements
Pella, IA (05/21/2020) — Central College has announced it has waived ACT and SAT testing requirements for students applying for admission in Fall 2020 and Spring and Fall 2021 semesters.
The change in the college's policy was made as a result of the national suspension of ACT and SAT testing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Central will now only require students to submit high school transcripts.
Central will evaluate each student's application for admission based on factors such as the nature of the high school, classes available and the choices made among them, academic record, extracurricular activities, talents and achievements and the unique experience and perspective a student could bring to the college.
"We understand the difficult times families are facing and we want to ease the stress of applying to receive a Central education," says Chevy Freiburger, dean of enrollment management.
In addition to waiving the test requirements, Central has taken other steps to ensure all students have an equal opportunity to evaluate Central and be considered for admission.
Central is hosting group and individual virtual events. During these experiences, students can meet other prospective students, ask questions and get essential information on next steps.
Central is hosting individual on-campus visits with safety measures in place. For more information, visit central.edu/visit.
Central's admission counselors, financial aid staff, faculty and coaches are available to chat with students one-on-one via phone, Skype, Zoom and other platforms. Simply reach out to campusvisit@central.edu to schedule an appointment.
Central has extended its deposit deadline to July 1 for those students entering this fall.
Central will consider any COVID-19 related financial hardship a family may have experienced in calculating financial aid.
