Central College to Host its First-Ever Out of the Darkness Campus Walk

by Central College

Pella, IA (03/04/2019) — Central College will host its first Out of the Darkness Campus Walk on Sunday, March 31. Registration begins at noon at Maytag Student Center and the walk will run from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

The event aims to raise $5,000 to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. It is produced in cooperation with Central's Campus Activity Board, Alumni Office and 50 Pella businesses.

"Most of us either know someone who has lost someone to suicide or who has mental health struggles," says Cheyanne Scholl, Central Class of 2021 and the event's catalyst. "This event enables us to come together to share stories and experiences as well as raise funds toward awareness and prevention."

The event is part of Central's commitment to improving students' physical and mental health through classes and campus events.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention uses donations such as those generated by this walk to raise awareness of, fund scientific research on and provide resources and aid to those affected by suicide. For more information: https://afsp.org/. To donate: http://do.nr/qqvl9
