Central College Partners With Pella High School to Offer Strength and Conditioning Program

Pella, IA (04/01/2021) — Central College will partner with Pella Community High School to offer a strength and conditioning program for student-athletes beginning in summer 2021. The partnership is made possible with generous support from Pella Corporation and the shareholder family and the Pella Booster Club.

Central will hire a full-time National Strength and Conditioning Association certified individual to oversee the program. The program will be offered year-round for all high school athletics and will include training and education in physical health, nutrition and mental health.

"Central College will not only help our student-athletes become faster, stronger and better, but ready to lead a well-rounded, healthy lifestyle," says Matt Fouch, activities director at Pella Community High School. "Central has always been a great partner to the Pella Community School District, and we are excited to expand this relationship."

Central also will offer its students the opportunity to participate in internships within the program to gain real-life experience to prepare them for future careers.

"This program is just another step in supporting and serving our students and the greater Pella community in the best way we can," says Eric Van Kley, Central's director of athletics. "We want our relationship with the district and the community to be deeper and stronger than it's ever been. We are incredibly grateful to the booster club and the Pella shareholder family for their support and investment in our young people."
