Central College Music Performances Set for February
Pella, IA (02/01/2022) — Central College's music program will showcase three concerts in February to kick off the Spring semester.
ALMA and Jazz Band will perform a concert titled "Jazzmania" at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, in Cox-Snow Music Center. The concert will be directed by Gabriel Espinosa, a 1979 Central graduate and associate professor of music. Tickets are $5 or free with a Central ID.
Festival Honor Band and Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, on Hoekstra Family Stage in Douwstra Auditorium. The performance will conclude 9-12th Grade Bandfest, an all-day workshop hosted by Central's music program. Eileen McGonigal, assistant professor of music and director of bands, will direct the performance.
Festival Choir, A Cappella Choir and Chamber Singers will wrap up performances for the month at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, in Douwstra Auditorium on Hoekstra Family Stage. The performance will conclude 10-12th Grade Singfest, an all-day workshop hosted by Central's music program. Mark Babcock, a 1991 Central graduate, professor of music and M. Joan Kuyper Farver Endowed Chair in Music, will direct the performance.
Masks are strongly encouraged and will be provided at the door for each concert. All performances are free unless otherwise noted.
