Central College Hosts Virtual Midwest Sports Analytics Meeting

Pella, IA (11/02/2020) — Cynthia Frelund of the NFL Network and Eric Eager of Pro Football Focus will be keynote speakers for the fifth annual Midwest Sports Analytics Meeting set for Saturday, Nov. 21. The conference, typically held on campus at Central College, will be virtual this year.

Frelund joined NFL Network in 2016 as an analytics expert, providing unique insight into the game on NFL Fantasy LIVE, GameDay Morning and more. Eager is executive director of research and Development at PFF where he oversees the development of models and tools for consumers, media and team clients.

The event also will feature 12 contributed talks from analytics experts across the country, as well as an international speaker from China. The meeting runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and also offers poster presentations and opportunities to network. Registration is still available. Russ Goodman, professor of mathematics at Central, created MSAM in 2016 as a one-day conference promoting faculty, graduate and undergraduate research in sports analytics.
