Central College Hosts Regional Athletic Performance Clinic
Pella, IA (01/17/2019) — Central College will host a comprehensive athletic performance clinic from 8:50 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, at the Helen Jean Hislop Center on the Central College campus. Registration begins at 8 a.m.
The clinic will provide continuing education courses to middle school, high school and college coaches and administrators in the Pella, Knoxville, Melcher-Dallas, Pleasantville, Twin Cedars, Newton, Oskaloosa and other regional school districts. Coaches and students of strength and conditioning, football, baseball, softball, soccer, tennis, wrestling and other sports are welcome to attend. Cost is $35 for coaches and administrators and $15 for college students. Lunch and light refreshments will be provided.
The one-day event is coordinated by Central's Assistant Professor of Exercise Science Cody Huisman '07. It will feature lecture sessions on sports nutrition, human performance and movement drills by keynote speakers including Dustyn Baethke '07, director of athletic performance, University of Missouri; Korey Van Wyk '10, instructor in kinesiology and assistant strength and conditioning coordinator, Northwestern College; and Liz Vermeer, physical therapist, Kinetic Edge.
Following lunch, participants will have an opportunity to practice content through hands-on sessions, such as mobility training, while strengthening existing relationships and building new ones.
