Melissa Ketcham presents new research

2015 May 26

Central College student Melissa Ketcham of Muscatine presented during an Undergraduate Research Symposium May 5-6. Ketcham presented "Taking a Byte out of Prairies for Agricultyre Data: Creating a Database and Webpage for PFA" and "An Analysis of the Accuracy of Fantasy Football Projections" as part of a series discussing computer science senior projects and sports analytics.

"Not a lot of undergraduates are doing research -- that is unique to Central," said Linda Laine, associate professor of communication studies. "It is going to put them way ahead if they go on to graduate school after Central." And if students want to start careers right after graduation, Laine said the challenges of research prepare them to excel when managing long-term professional projects.
