Karien Wilson Presents at Heartland Global Health Consortium

On Wednesday, Oct. 12, Karien Wilson, a senior biology and biochemistry major from Urbandale, Iowa, along with 12 other students from Central College in Pella, Iowa, presented at the Heartland Global Health Consortium, "The Challenges of Global Aging," held at Des Moines University. Wilson presented a poster entitled "Non-communicable Diseases Afflicting Geriatric Populations in China, India, Japan, and the United States of America" with Blake Pearson.

The consortium was held to teach participants about the challenges of global aging, to identify action steps to address the issue and to question how society can assist in promoting a healthy lifestyle for the elderly. Students and faculty from eight Iowa colleges attended this year's consortium.
