Ellaine Watkins Presents at Heartland Global Health Consortium

On Wednesday, Oct. 12, Ellaine Watkins, a senior biology and psychology major from Des Moines, Iowa, along with 12 other students from Central College in Pella, Iowa, presented at the Heartland Global Health Consortium, "The Challenges of Global Aging," held at Des Moines University. Watkins presented a poster entitled "Transitioning Social Attitudes towards Caring for the Elderly in Southeast Asia and the United States" with Sarah Shippy.

The consortium was held to teach participants about the challenges of global aging, to identify action steps to address the issue and to question how society can assist in promoting a healthy lifestyle for the elderly. Students and faculty from eight Iowa colleges attended this year's consortium.
