Ashton Mayer '15 named finalist in Ahlers & Cooney Art Competition

Ashton Mayer '15 of Essex was named a finalist in the First Annual Ahlers & Cooney Student Art Competition for her piece "Makings of Flight." Mayer received an award and cash prize of $250. In addition, Ahlers & Cooney made a matching donation to Central College.

Ahlers & Cooney represents many institutions of higher learning across Iowa. The call for entries went to student artists at client institutions.

"Art has always played a prominent role in our office surroundings," said Kristy Latta, chair of the Ahlers & Cooney art committee. "Instead of acquiring any new pieces this year, we thought it would be fun to encourage and display art created by students from our higher education clients. Given the quality of the submissions and the success of the event, we plan to expand to include a separate division for high school artists next year."
