Amanda Tower Presents at Heartland Global Health Consortium

On Wednesday, Oct. 12, Amanda Tower, a senior biology major from Sloan, Iowa, along with 12 other students from Central College in Pella, Iowa, presented at the Heartland Global Health Consortium, "The Challenges of Global Aging," held at Des Moines University. Tower presented a poster entitled "Factors Affecting Levels of Hospice and Palliative Care for the Elderly in the United States, United Kingdom, Asia and Africa" with Anna Colgan. Their poster won the award for the best focus on the conference theme.

The consortium was held to teach participants about the challenges of global aging, to identify action steps to address the issue and to question how society can assist in promoting a healthy lifestyle for the elderly. Students and faculty from eight Iowa colleges attended this year's consortium.
